Evaluations:
” …the movie finally ends up resembling one thing nearer to Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hole (1999), full with macabre visible setpieces that take it into full-blown gothic horror. Whereas which may sound like tonal whiplash, the movie manages to promote this flip with the subtly realized elevating hysteria among the many fearful villagers and the interesting, odd-couple detective pairing between its two central characters.” All Ones That Acquired Away
“A satisfying, spooky frightener, the painterly compositions recall the dreamy however pure landscapes of German Romanticist Caspar David Friedrich, and its Japanese European superstitions meet the technological fashionable world echoes Bram Stoker’s Dracula. If Bergendy isn’t above throwing within the odd low-cost bounce scare, the movie’s greatest moments rely extra on phantasmagorical imagery and unsettling, surrealistic sequences.” CineVue
“Whereas it has a couple of ups and downs and the horror isn’t fairly nearly as good because it was within the first act, it’s nonetheless a strong ghost story that’ll creep you out and maintain your consideration from starting to finish. It makes nice use of our pure worry of loss of life, even when the ghosts aren’t concerned, and the human components preserve the story afloat when the scares take a little bit of a backseat.” Horror Obsessive
“The movie transcends the bounds of a pure ghost story and traditional horror fare in a cross-over of style filmmaking and arthouse cinema, boasting an enchantment to the mainstream public. The movie weaves social, psychological, and historic motifs, spiced up with delicate bounce scares together with frenetic motion scenes and coming-of-age melodrama in a post-modern cinematic patchwork.” Display screen Anarchy
